Amendment notice (announced September 29, 2026) — For bookings requested on or after October 29, 2026, the Host confirmation window becomes 48 hours, and a cancellation for the member's own reasons follows the tour policy or the lesson & experience policy according to the product category. Under both, cancelling within 24 hours of payment (before the service starts) is refunded in full. Bookings requested before then keep the previous policy. The amended clauses are marked in Articles 4 and 5 and the Supplementary Provisions.
This Policy sets out when, and how much, is refunded when a booking made on Maptlantis is cancelled. It is part of the Terms of Service, and the cancellation policy that applies to each product is shown on the product screen and the payment screen.
Article 1 (Scope of application)
① This Policy applies to bookings for which a deposit has been paid (reference code MB-). ② It does not apply to inquiries that do not involve payment (reference code MT-); an inquiry may be cancelled at any time. ③ For travel products the Company plans and sells directly, this Policy applies together with the Overseas Travel Standard Terms or the Domestic Travel Standard Terms and the Fair Trade Commission's Notification on Consumer Dispute Resolution Standards; where the two standards differ, the standard more favorable to the consumer applies. ④ Marketplace transactions in used gear are governed not by Articles 1 through 9 but separately by Article 10.
Article 2 (Deposit and balance)
① The deposit is the amount paid when requesting a booking, set per product either as a fixed amount per person or as a percentage of the total price. The exact amount is shown on the payment screen. ② The balance is paid locally or through a separate process as determined by the Host. Cancellation and refund of the balance follow the conditions the Host has provided. ③ The refund percentages set out in this Policy are calculated based on the deposit the member paid through the Company.
Article 3 (Withdrawal of offer)
① A member may withdraw their offer within 7 days of the date the booking was formed, or the date the member received a document (including an electronic document) confirming the contract's content. ② However, withdrawal of offer may be restricted under Article 17(2) of the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc., in the following cases, in which case the cancellation rules in Article 5 onward apply.
- Where use has already begun for a product with a designated date of use
- Where the product was individually prepared at the member's request, and recognizing withdrawal of offer would cause irrecoverable harm to the Company or the Host
- Other cases falling under the items of the same paragraph
③ For a withdrawal of offer that does not fall under paragraph ②, the Company refunds the deposit in full. ④ For a cancellation after the period in paragraph ① has passed, the cancellation rules in Article 5 onward apply. ⑤ Where the withdrawal-of-offer standard and the cancellation rules would produce different results, the standard more favorable to the member applies.
Article 4 (Refund before a booking is formed)
In the following cases, the booking is not formed and the deposit paid is refunded in full. The member does not need to apply separately.
- Where the booking request expired because the Host did not confirm within 24 hours of the time of payment (48 hours for bookings requested on or after October 29, 2026)
- Where the Host declined the booking request
- Where payment was completed but the spot could not be secured due to the capacity being full or similar
Article 5 (Cancellation for the member's own reasons)
① Where a member cancels for their own reasons after a booking has been formed, the refund is calculated under the cancellation policy that applies to the booking, based on the number of days remaining until the date of use. The applicable policy can be checked on the payment screen and in the booking details. ② For bookings requested on or after October 29, 2026, the following policies apply according to the product category.
Tour (tour products)
| Time of cancellation | Refund percentage |
|---|---|
| Within 24 hours of payment (before departure) | 100% |
| Up to 90 days before departure | 100% |
| 89 to 60 days before departure | 70% |
| 59 to 30 days before departure | 50% |
| 29 to 8 days before departure | 30% |
| 7 days before departure to the day itself, and no-shows | 0% |
Lesson & experience (lessons, certification courses, education courses and experience products)
| Time of cancellation | Refund percentage |
|---|---|
| Within 24 hours of payment (before the lesson starts) | 100% |
| Up to 14 days before the lesson date | 100% |
| 13 to 7 days before the lesson date | 70% |
| 6 to 3 days before the lesson date | 50% |
| 2 days before the lesson date to the day itself, and no-shows | 0% |
③ The full refund within 24 hours of payment applies only where the cancellation is made before the service (departure or lesson) starts. Where no start time has been fixed, it applies to cancellations made by the day before the date of use. ④ For bookings requested on or before October 28, 2026, the template that applied to the product when the booking was requested continues to apply: one of the following, chosen by the Host for each product and shown in the booking details.
Flexible
| Time of cancellation | Refund percentage |
|---|---|
| Up to 3 days before the date of use | 100% |
| 2 to 1 days before the date of use | 50% |
| On the date of use | 0% |
Standard
| Time of cancellation | Refund percentage |
|---|---|
| Up to 7 days before the date of use | 100% |
| 6 to 3 days before the date of use | 50% |
| 2 days before the date of use to the day itself | 0% |
Strict
| Time of cancellation | Refund percentage |
|---|---|
| Up to 14 days before the date of use | 100% |
| 13 to 7 days before the date of use | 50% |
| 6 days before the date of use to the day itself | 0% |
⑤ The number of days remaining is calculated from midnight of the date of use, and a cancellation made on the date shown in the table falls within that band. For example, under the Tour policy, cancelling 90 days before departure gives a 100% refund. ⑥ No refund is given where a member fails to appear without prior notice (a no-show). ⑦ A full refund under Article 3 (withdrawal of offer), Article 6 (the Host's own reasons) or Article 7 (force majeure) prevails over the policies in this Article. ⑧ A Host may separately set terms more favorable to the member than the policies above, in which case those terms prevail.
Article 6 (Cancellation for the Host's own reasons)
① Where a confirmed booking is cancelled for the Host's own reasons, the deposit is refunded in full. ② In this case, the Company strives to guide the member to an alternative product or schedule. ③ Where a Host is found to have repeatedly cancelled unilaterally, the Company may limit that Host's product exposure or terminate the contract.
Article 7 (Force majeure, such as weather or safety)
① Where a product cannot be safely carried out due to severe weather, underwater conditions such as waves or visibility, port or airport control, vessel cancellation, natural disaster, epidemic, government order or similar, the deposit is refunded in full. ② The final decision on whether to proceed, on grounds of safety, is made by the local operator and the Host. In underwater activity, a safety determination takes priority over cancellation. ③ Where a Host refuses a member's participation because the member's health condition or qualifications do not meet the product's participation requirements, Article 6 applies if the circumstances differed from what was disclosed in advance, and Article 5 applies if the member disclosed something that was not accurate.
Article 8 (Method and period of refund)
① A refund is made to the original payment method the member used to pay. ② The Company requests a refund from the payment gateway within 3 business days of the date the reason for the refund is confirmed. ③ The time it actually takes to reach the member's account varies by payment method.
- Credit/debit card: after the card issuer's authorization is cancelled, typically 3–7 business days depending on the card issuer's policy
- Simple/easy payment: follows the policy of the card or account linked to that payment method
- Bank transfer: typically within 3 business days after the refund account is confirmed
④ Where a partial refund is needed, it is processed as a partial cancellation rather than a full authorization cancellation, and the remaining amount is left as is. ⑤ Payment-gateway fees incurred during the refund process are borne by the Company and are not charged to the member. The refund amount is never reduced by a payment fee.
Article 9 (Dispute handling)
① Disagreements about the refund amount or reason may be raised at info@maptlantis.com or through the customer center at 0505-115-1234. ② The Company notifies the outcome within 7 business days of the date of receipt. Where more time is needed to confirm the facts, the Company will first state the reason and the expected timeframe. ③ If agreement is not reached, the member may apply for mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency or the Fair Trade Commission.
Article 10 (Withdrawal of offer and refunds in the used-gear marketplace)
① This Article applies to Marketplace transactions made by card payment. It does not apply to transactions members conduct directly with each other by direct trade or courier without payment; in that case, since no funds have passed through the Company, cancellation, return and refund follow the agreement between the parties and applicable law. ② Where the selling member is a business, the buying member may withdraw their offer within 7 days of the date of receiving the item, under the Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. ③ Where the selling member is an individual, that Act's withdrawal-of-offer provisions do not directly apply to a transaction between individuals. However, because the Company handles receipt of the offer and payment on an agency basis, the Company carries out the refund procedure on the following basis.
| Situation | Handling |
|---|---|
| The item was not shipped | Full refund |
| An item materially different from the listing arrived | Full refund |
| There is a material defect not stated in the listing | Full refund |
| The item is confirmed to be counterfeit | Full refund |
| Simple change of mind | Refunded only if the selling member agrees |
④ The buying member must apply for a refund within 7 days of the date of receiving the item. Please include material such as photos that can confirm the item's condition when applying. ⑤ After reviewing material from both sides, the Company requests cancellation of the payment; where the determination is difficult, the Company will guide the parties to the card issuer's dispute procedure or a dispute-mediation body. Because the Company does not hold the funds, it does not allocate the funds at its own discretion. ⑥ The cost of return shipping is determined by the reason for the refund: borne by the selling member where the refund is due to a problem with the item, and by the buying member for a simple change of mind. ⑦ The Marketplace's card-payment feature is not yet open, so this Article applies from the point transactions begin using the payment feature.
