Each of the 249 ISO 3166-1 countries and territories is marked as listed, queued for survey, inland water candidate, on hold for safety and legal review, or excluded. We don't pad island counts or auto-generate operators whose status is unclear.

Operators ordinary travelers can book are being checked against official sources.

Nothing is published until travel advisories, conflicts, access and protection rules or sanctions are reviewed.
8
Uninhabited, inaccessible, or without realistic bookable water activities for ordinary travelers.
A unit counts as listed once a single operator is confirmed. Thinly covered countries and older data marked as needing checks keep being re-audited.
Conflict zones, military and protected areas, limits on entering the water with wildlife, and travel advisories are reviewed region by region before anything is published.
Landlocked countries are added only when a bookable service is confirmed, such as lake scuba diving or river kayaking and rafting.

All rows include not only operators but also branches, vessels, natural places and public beaches. Legitimate branches of the same brand can each be a row, so the row count is not presented as a count of distinct companies. Closures, duplicates, prices, photos and contacts keep being updated against official sources.
