The Maptlantis community is a space where divers share diving experiences and information. This Policy is part of the Terms of Service and sets out what can and cannot be done in the community, and how problems are handled when they arise.
Article 1 (Scope of application)
① This Policy applies to the community's posts, comments, photos, reports, blocking and other member-participation features generally. ② Matters not set out in this Policy follow the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. ③ Where this Policy and the Terms of Service differ, the standard more favorable to the member applies.
Article 2 (Who may post)
① Public community posts can be read without logging in. ② Only members aged 14 or older may write posts, comment, recommend, save, or report. ③ A member is responsible for posts and comments written under their own account.
Article 3 (Types of posts and scope of disclosure)
① A post carries a category — question, tip, review, showcase, species record, discussion, etc. — that discloses its nature. ② A member may save a post as a draft before publishing it, and only the author can see a draft. ③ Only posts the member has agreed to publish appear in listings and search. Withdrawing publication removes the post from listings, search and share cards immediately. ④ A share card does not include the post's body, the member's name, photos, contact details, or location.
Article 4 (Postings that may not be made)
The following postings violate this Policy, and the Company acts on them under the procedures in Articles 6 and 7.
- Posts that infringe another person's rights: defamation, insult, harassment, threats, discriminatory or hateful expression
- Exposure of personal identity/information: posting another person's name, contact details, address, affiliation, or an identifiable photo of their face without their consent
- Unauthorized photos: posting a photo or video taken by someone else without authorization
- Advertising and spam: commercial promotion, repeated posting, soliciting external sales, flooding
- False information: spreading diving conditions, accident information, or operator information that is not true
- Encouraging conduct that harms safety: posts that encourage dangerous conduct such as diving beyond one's certification, disregarding decompression rules, solo diving, or diving under the influence of alcohol
- Encouraging conduct that harms the marine environment: posts that encourage or boast of collecting, capturing or selling protected species, touching or harassing marine life, damaging coral, or removing artifacts or relics
- Unlawful information: information prohibited by applicable law, obscene material, or material harmful to minors
- Improper use of an account: impersonating another person, manipulating opinion using multiple accounts, or manipulating recommendation counts
Article 5 (Obligation to disclose reviews/recommendations and conflicts of interest)
① Where a member writes a post having received compensation or something free of charge from an operator, instructor, or product, that fact must be clearly disclosed within the post. Compensation includes not only money but also discounts, free lessons/tours, gear, and accommodation. ② A member with a conflicting interest — such as a business's representative, employee, or instructor — must disclose that relationship when writing about a business or product connected to them. ③ A review written without actual use, or one that conceals having received compensation, is subject to deletion. ④ The Company calculates community recommendation rankings from a member's interests, recency, and the number of recommendations from different members. Whether a post has photos, or is an advertisement, is not reflected in the ranking.
Article 6 (Rights-infringement reports and temporary measures)
① A person whose rights — such as privacy, reputation, or copyright — have been infringed by a community post may request deletion by emailing info@maptlantis.com. Please state the right infringed and information that identifies the post when making a request. ② On receiving a request, the Company will, in accordance with Article 44-2 of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., take necessary measures such as deletion or temporary measures without delay, and notify both the requester and the poster of that fact. ③ Where it is difficult to determine whether a right has been infringed, or a dispute between the interested parties is expected, the Company may temporarily block access to the post concerned for up to 30 days. ④ A poster who objects to a temporary measure may request the Company to republish the post, and the Company will notify the requester of the objection and reconsider. ⑤ The Company keeps a record of the reason for and handling of each measure.
Article 7 (Reports and review)
① A member may report a post or comment for the following reasons.
- Spam/advertising
- Harassment
- Exposure of personal identity/information
- Unauthorized photo
- Incorrect information
- Business conflict of interest
② A post is not automatically hidden merely because a report has been received. Nor is action taken solely because the number of reports is high. ③ An operations staff member reviews the report and handles it as one of: hidden, restored, or no issue found, and records the reason and the person who handled it. This record is not deleted. ④ Report content is viewable only by operations staff. ⑤ A member who repeatedly files reports without basis may have their use of the report function restricted.
Article 8 (Sanctions)
① The Company applies the following measures in stages according to the severity and repetition of a violation.
- Guidance and warning
- Hiding or deleting the post
- Restricting posting/commenting for a set period
- Suspending use of the community
- Terminating the use agreement
② For defamation, exposure of personal information, unlawful information, or a post that directly threatens safety, the Company may skip stages and act immediately. ③ The Company notifies the member of the reason for and duration of a measure. In urgent cases, notice may be given after the measure. ④ A member who objects to a measure may raise the objection by emailing info@maptlantis.com, and the Company will immediately lift the measure if it finds the objection to be justified.
Article 9 (Blocking)
① A member may block another member. Blocking restricts posts, interactions and notifications between the two. ② A block is visible only to the member who set it and is not notified to the other party. ③ Because a public post can be read by anyone while logged out, blocking does not itself prevent the post's disclosure.
Article 10 (Rights in postings)
① Copyright in a post, comment, or photo a member has posted belongs to the member. ② A member grants the Company the right to use the posting for the purpose of operating, displaying and promoting the community, and its scope is set out in Article 13 of the Terms of Service. ③ Once a member deletes a post, it is no longer shown in listings or share screens. However, to preserve the context of replies, a notice that the original text was deleted may remain in its place.
Article 11 (Notice concerning safety)
① Community posts are each member's own experience and opinion, and the Company has not confirmed or guaranteed their accuracy or safety. ② A "helpful answer" mark is chosen by the member who asked the question, and is not certification that the content is accurate. ③ An actual dive must follow, first and foremost, the diver's own certification limits, the training agency's standards, local law, and the local operator's guidance. Do not dive beyond your own ability on the basis of community advice. ④ The Company is not responsible for the outcome of any action taken in reliance on community information.
Article 12 (Protection of minors)
① The Company does not accept registration from anyone under the age of 14. ② On discovering, or receiving a report of, a post harmful to minors, the Company deletes it or blocks access to it without delay. ③ Inquiries concerning posts harmful to minors may be sent to info@maptlantis.com.
Article 13 (Inquiries)
Inquiries about community operation, objections, and rights-infringement reports may be sent to info@maptlantis.com or the customer center at 0505-115-1234.
