돈솔의 부탄딩(고래상어) 시즌은 11월~6월이며 관찰·인터랙션에 가장 좋은 달은 2월~4월로 보고된다. 4월은 이 최적 구간의 마지막 달이다. 돈솔은 1998년 지방조례 제12호로 필리핀 최초의 고래상어 성역이 되었고, 4m 이격·접촉 금지·플래시 금지 등 행동 규범이 적용된다.
